Chess Tournament

29/05/2018
Two weeks ago on Wendnsday the 16th Hobsonville School held a Inner School chess  tournament (Chesspower supported this event).  Sadly, only Coatsville School participated in this  tournament. Each person  had to play 7 rounds. Some people from Hobsonville vs Hobsonville and some got to play Coatsville. The day was different compared to an ordinary day. Hobsonville won first, second and third. Each person only had 15minutes to complete their round. Only three girls participated in the tournament (13 boys were there). It was a day to remember.

The Mind Blowing PINK Shirt Day.

On the 18th of May Hobsonville  School had PINK shirt day. Pink shirt day originated in Canada. Pink shirt day is here today because of a kid that went to school with a pink shirt on his first day, seniors bullied him and people felt bad  so they wore pink shirts to stand up for  him. Be an upstander not a bystander. There were lots of incredible pink clothes on the day. We had an amazing day, just keep in mind bullying is serious, if you think someone needs help talk to an adult you trust.

The fantastic NZ Opera

On Tuesday the 8th of May, the year 4-8 watched an amazing NZ Opera musical play in our school Auditorium, the play was called The Elixer Of Love. Only 4 charaters and one teacher, play in this singing play. Their were so many laughs and giggles during this play. The charaters names were Nemerino, Adina, Belcore, Dulcamara and these are the charaters descriptions:

Nemorino: loved Adina and he worked at Adinas Dads fish and chips shop. He married Adina in the end.

Adina: wasnt in love with Nemorino but then fell in love Belcore and then married Nemorino, went behind Belcore back.

Belcore: was a famous movie star and loved Adinas beauty. He wanted to marry Adina, but he got angry at Nemorino and gave Nemorino a contract to work for him.

Dulcamara: was a money making thief. He told everyone he had potions and lotions for whatever they needed. Nemorino asked for the Elixer of love then Nemorino brought a potion for Adina to love him, but said it will take 24 hours to work for him to leave town.
We really enjoyed this musical play with different pitches. There was humour and it was incredible for them to come in.
